Green Jars
Shubhra Gupta, founder of Green Jars

“Health and the true taste of the fruit — we wanted both in the same jar, and we found a way.”

Shubhra Gupta

We craft homemade jams, fruit preserves, candies, syrups using fresh, organically grown fruits and vegetables sourced directly from farmers. With no chemical preservatives, artificial essence, or colors, every jar is a promise of purity and taste, just as nature intended.

Green Jars started in one kitchen, with a pot of fruit and the realisation that almost nothing on the shelf was made the way it was at home. Every batch is still cooked by hand, in quantities small enough to watch.

How Green Jars began

The idea came from something I read: that a common food preservative, combined with Vitamin C, can form a carcinogenic substance. It stayed with me, because jams, spreads and fruit preserves are exactly what friends and family reach for at breakfast or as a quick snack. My daughter especially loved hers with roti.

We didn't want to compromise on health, and we didn't want to lose the natural taste of the fruit either. That is how Green Jars came into being.

Notes from the kitchen

Short pieces on the fruit, the spice and the method behind each jar.

First jar

Where it started

Strawberry preserve was one of the first jars we ever made, and it is still the one we are asked for most.

Wellness

Black turmeric, the quiet root

A rare root, studied for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. We built a tea around it so that goodness reaches an ordinary household.

Fun fact

Colour is a seasonal signal

Two batches of the same jam rarely match. Fruit picked later in the season is riper and darker, and with no added colour the jar simply shows it.

New notes are added as the seasons change.
